This week, the Norwegian Coastal Administration was at the Sogn og Fjordane District Court in Nordfjordeid to determine the right of expropriation and compensation for several landowners who will lose property and buildings due to the construction of the Stad Ship Tunnel.

Reached settlements

Following the court's encouragement, the parties negotiated outside the court proceedings to reach settlements. A case involving a boathouse and an access road was settled on Wednesday, and on Thursday the parties reached settlements on several complex cases related to property and business operations.

– It was give and take from both parties. Fortunately, we managed to reach settlements in these cases before the court proceedings concluded. I believe everyone involved is glad that these matters are now resolved, and we can move forward, says project manager Terje Skjeppestad.

What was the outcome?

– We will not go into the details of the settlements now, but it involves compensation for the acquisition of property – including houses, garages, roads, boathouses, and commercial properties. This will now be compensated through purchases and other agreements, says Skjeppestad.

Three out of four cases settled

Settlements were reached in three of the four cases that were in court. The last case, concerning compensation for a vacation home, has not yet been resolved. This means that the Sogn og Fjordane District Court will decide the matter. A decision may come before summer.
