Changed sailing pattern at Måløy Bridge from 14 September to to 28 February 2023

The Western fairway under the Måløy Bridge will be closed due to construction work in this period. All seagoing traffic, both northbound and southbound, must use the Eastern Fairway. NB! The closing period has been extended to 28 February 2023

The western fairway will be closed from 14 September 2022 at 20:00 (local time) until 28 February 2023 15:00 (local time).

Kinn VTS will monitor and organize vessel traffic over 24 meters – in accordance with § 13 in the Port and Fairway Act. You can contact Kinn VTS on VHF channel 18.

In addition, during the closing period there will be a 24-hour on-duty service by “MS Skalmen” for all seagoing traffic. You can contact “MS Skalmen” on:

During the construction period, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration is establishing collision protection for the bridge pillar in the Western fairway of Måløy Bridge – Vestland County – Kinn municipality. In the western fairway there will be underwater construction work, divers in the water, dredging, blasting, and foundation work.

We ask everyone who plan to sail under the Maaloy Bridge to:

  • Get updates prior to voyage.
  • Contact the 24-hour service on VHF channel 16 approximately 10 minutes before passage to provide information on your planned route.
  • Listen actively on Channel 16 and VHF channel 18.
  • Use extra caution when approaching the construction area.
  • Follow facebook.com/Maaloybrua for important updates on the construction work and sailing pattern.

Changes in Aids to Navigation during the construction period:

All navigational aids in the eastern fairway will be omnidirectional with the light characteristics «fixed light» and period «fixed».

All navigational aids in the western fairway will be unlit. In addition, special yellow light buoys will be placed north and south of the western fairway with the light characteristics «Oc Y 2s» and period «1,25 + 0,75» to indicate that the fairway is closed.

The above-listed sailing pattern will be in force from 14 September 2022 at 20:00 local time – 28 February 2023 at 15:00 local time.

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration is planning on new closing period for the Western Fairway in the spring of 2023 to complete the construction work.
