A good port structure and safe and efficient shipping are important for economic growth and regional development. The NCA facilitates safe and efficient shipping to stimulate more seaborne trade.

  • Automatic Identification System (AIS)

    The Norwegian Coastal Administration is responsible for the national AIS network. AIS enable Norwegian authorities to have a continuous overview of vessel traffic on the Norwegian coast and at sea.
  • Digital Route Service

    At routeinfo.no mariners can download reference routes for navigation to ports, and get important route information and local regulations that apply to the route.
  • Information for the cruise industry

    Information from the Norwegian authorities on safe cruises in Norway. The aim of the overview is to help shipowners and captains prevent accidents and unwanted incidents.
  • Fees

    Vessels that use the pilotage service, Pilotage Exemption Certificate service and the service areas of the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) must pay a fee. The fee arrangement includes pilotage fees and safety fees.
  • Recreational crafts

    When you are out in a boat, you must comply with the laws on maritime traffic. Responsibility always lies with the person operating the boat.
