Pilotage service fee

The pilotage service fee is paid when the vessel uses a state pilot, and it is paid in addition to the pilotage readiness fee. This fee is not paid when the vessel has a navigator with a pilot exemption certificate or when the vessel has been granted an exemption (permit to sail without a pilot on board).

The pilotage service fee is paid in the form of hourly rates, for a minimum of 3 hours. The hourly rate is differentiated according to the size of the vessel as follows:

The booking fee can be added to the pilotage service fee if the pilot booking has not been made electronically via the Norwegian Coastal Administration's electronic internet service within 24 hours prior to the commencement of a pilotage assignment.

A pilotage assignment at Svalbard must be booked within 72 hours prior to the planned start and confirmed at least 48 hours prior to the planned start. If a confirmed booking at Svalbard is cancelled, a cancellation fee of NOK 10,000.- will apply.

The booking fee can also be applied to pilot bookings that are made less than two hours before commencement of a pilotage assignment.

A change to pilot bookings where the departure time has been confirmed by the orderer may entail a rebooking fee for each change. Several fees can be applied to the same pilotage assignment. The booking fee and rebooking fee is NOK 1,500.
